This historical settlement used to be the inhibit of Median, Parthian, and Sasanid and is in West Azarbaijan province, Iran. It is also said that Takht-e Soleyman is the birthplace of Zoroast. The Takht-e Soleyman castle has survived from Sasanid Empire and with its famous fire temple, Anahita temple, gates and great walls was one the most remarkable constructions of the world.It used to be the greatest religious, educational, social and ceremonial center for Zoroastrians, before Arab conquest of Persia. The site was partially destroyed with invasion of Romans by Heraclius.
In the 13th century, Abakhaan one of Holakhu Khan’s nephews made a mosque on the remains of the fortification, but it was also later destroyed and today only a part of tiling decorations has left.One crater inside the fortification itself is filled with spring water. The lake is 112 meters deep and make a wonderful view to the whole site. The interesting fact about the lake is that, the water temperature in Summer and Winter is always around 21 Celsius degrees.
